Life coaching is partnering with you, the client, in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential. Life coaching is a collaborative relationship between a trained coach and a client looking for self-discovery, self-awareness and a deeper sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Life Coaching strives to empower you to set and achieve personal and professional goals, improve relationships, and enhance overall well-being. Life Coaches support you on “how” to achieve your stated goals. Life Coaching focuses on the present and facilitates you getting “unstuck” by identifying unhelpful habits and patterns and replacing them with healthier authentic options. Through a self- discovery process, you generate solutions and strategies while the Coach serves to hold you accountable and responsible for the implementation of your choices.
Life Coaches focus on the present and how to move into a desired future. Sometimes the past is touched on to gain understanding of the present, but coaching doesn’t attempt to identify and heal traumatic issues from a person’s past. Life Coaching sometimes has healing side effects, but the intention is not therapeutic in nature. Clients who need or want therapy should be referred to a counsellor. Therapists and/or counsellors explore a client’s past to support the healing of unresolved traumas and/or childhood issues. Counseling is a therapeutic process that explores and analyzes the client’s past as a means for understanding present behavior. Counselors focus on the client’s mental health symptoms and functioning and look to provide emotional healing for past abuse and/or traumatic experiences. They’re trained in therapeutic interventions and emotional traumatic processing to facilitate a client’s healing. Counsellors provide support for those suffering from addictions and mental health disorders, while Coaches do not. While counsellors focus on emotional healing and mental health conditions, Life Coaches empower clients to achieve goals, make positive changes, and enhance their quality of life.
The number of sessions will vary and is dependent on a number of factors such as what is currently going on in your life, what you want to accomplish, what is your motivation, what is your level of accountability and how willing you are to explore obstacles, set new goals and develop healthier coping strategies. Most people recognize on some level that things are not going well and it is often a crisis or a stressful incident that motivates one to find the courage to look at what is going on in an honest and authentic manner.
The Coach agrees not to disclose any information pertaining to the Client, unless the Client provides written permission. As per the Confidentiality clause in the Waiver and Release Form that you signed at the beginning of the process, “all information shared during the coaching sessions will be kept confidential, except in situations where disclosure is required by law or to prevent harm to myself or others.” As your Coach, I agree to respect the confidentiality of the coaching sessions and relationship and will not disclose sensitive and personal information shared during the coaching sessions. You as the Client acknowledge your continuing obligation to raise any confidentiality questions or concerns in a timely manner.
The short answer is no. In my role as a Coach, I will develop rapport and provide a safe environment for you to start sharing information and exploring areas of your life where you are “stuck”, confused, or not feeling or doing your best. Coaching is a collaborative creative process that supports you getting to know yourself more authentically by identifying your core values and beliefs, recognizing what is important and planning a more fulfilling future. Homework assignments and personal reflections outside of the coaching sessions will help create accountability to the process and to yourself.
Yes, I work with adolescents. In my previous profession as a social worker, I spent many years working with youth, and I understand the unique challenges that young people face during this critical time in their lives. Adolescence is a time of significant disruption and growth, both physically and emotionally, and it is essential to provide competent and compassionate support to assist them to navigate these challenges effectively.
My approach to coaching adolescents involves creating a safe and non-judgmental space where they can comfortably explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals. I focus on helping them build confidence, improve their self-esteem, and develop life skills such as effective communication, problem solving, and decision making. By addressing issues like academic pressures, social dynamics, and future planning, I aim to empower them to take charge of their lives and make positive fulfilling choices.
While the adolescent is my client, I do work closely with parents and guardians to ensure a holistic approach to the issues at hand, while respecting the Confidentiality Agreement signed at the start of the sessions. My goal is to help your child thrive, not just survive these formative years.
Yes, I can assist you with this difficult and potentially life-changing decision. Thinking about changing jobs or careers is a pivotal moment in anyone’s professional journey. There are many variables at play and numerous considerations that must be evaluated during the process. It is important for you to understand why you feel the need for change. Self-assessment and reflection will give you some insight into your professional strengths, core skills, passions and areas for improvement. Once you have a better understanding of your motivations and skills, it is time to explore potential opportunities. The development of a transitional plan will outline specific steps and a realistic timeline for achieving the career change. As a Life Coach, I can provide ongoing support and resources such as regular check-ins and encouraging you to remain resilient and adaptable by keeping a positive attitude and celebrating small wins along the way. As a Life Coach, I can assist you with a career transition decision by providing support, empathy, and strategic planning. My goal as a Life Coach is to empower you to make an informed and confident career decision that aligns with your passions and professional aspirations.
Most Coaches will answer that question by saying it all depends on your effort, motivation, accountability and how serious and committed you are to making life-changing decisions. For example, if you want to be less stressed out and more relaxed, it is important to realize that change won’t happen overnight. The first step is saying to yourself, “I am not happy with how things are, and I want things to be different.” Many of us have limiting beliefs which are a state of mind or a belief we hold which limits our ability for personal growth. If you believe you deserve a calm, peaceful, and relaxed lifestyle that is the starting point to making the necessary changes. New beliefs create a shift in thoughts and feelings that contribute to better choices and new behaviors helping you make balanced decisions to achieve your stated goals.
As a Coach, I have professional and ethical guidelines to consider. I am not trained to diagnose or treat psychological conditions. Sometimes, past trauma, abuse and grief and loss issues make their way into the coaching sessions and the Client feels emotionally overwhelmed to the point that the process has stalled or the issues that have arisen are outside the scope of the Coach’s training and expertise. In those cases, in consultation with the Client, the Coach may suggest alternate professional guidance and intervention such as seeing a counselor or therapist, if deeper psychological healing is necessary.
We accept cash, e-transfer, and credit card payments for coaching sessions.
Please provide advance notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. We understand that life happens, and we are flexible. However, accountability and commitment are key in reaching your maximum potential. If you need to cancel a session, you may do so within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment. The client must provide a minimum of 1-week written notice (emails are sufficient) if they would like to discontinue their remaining package sessions.
